a glioma - a slow growing brain tumour. There are three types:
- Low grade astrocytoma occur in the cerebellum of children or cerebrum of
adults
- Anaplastic astrocytoma A tumour which commonly spreads to the surrounding brain tissue
- Glioblastoma multiforme astrocytoma is the most malignant (cancerous) type It usually spreads quite quickly to other parts of the brain, it is a difficult tumour to treat
