This condition is a serious disease of the heart muscle, where the heart muscle becomes inflamed and doesn’t work to the same normal capacity .There are three main types:-

• Dilated - this is where the muscular walls of the heart become stretched, causing the heart to enlarge, the muscles can’t pump a larger heart so efficiently
  
  
• Hypertrophic orHCM –this is where the wall of the heart become thickened; therefore it can’t fill correctly and is consequently less efficient at pumping the blood around.
  
• Restrictive-this is caused by hardening of the heart muscles, this can be due to scarring,but again causes the heart to be inefficient.
