This is a disease of the central nervous system it affects the brain the spinal chord and the nerves. The sheath that usually protects the nerves is affected causing different types of MS:
- Primary-progressive MS (PPMS) is gradual in onset; symptoms generally do not decrease or go into remission.
- Secondary-progressive MS (SPMS) This is where the sufferer has attacks and then gets partially better but progressively the symptoms are worsening.
- Relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) this is where once an attack has occured the sufferer has either a total or partial recovery.
