Is an infectious viral infection causing inflammation and swelling of the parotid glands (glands that produce saliva and are located below your ears) the typical hamster impression lasts for just over a week. Although a proportion of people suffer only very mild symptoms of tiredness, difficulty with eating and swallowing, headache and sometimes swelling in the testicles or ovaries. It is transmitted by droplets – someone sneezes or coughs around you and you inhale the virus.
