Description:
It is an occupational disease from the inhalation of fine mineral dust from sand blasting, quarries etc. Its effects on the lungs are irreversible leading to conditions such as lung fibrosis and emphysema. The main cause of death in people with silicosis is pulmonary tuberculosis.
