This is a very rare inherited form of spinal muscular atrophy, it usually is evident before six months, they may present with features such as . in the weeks or months following birth these infants may present with, weakness, breathing difficulties, failure to thrive due to feeding difficulties, poor head control ,lack of reflexes and motor skills, at present there is no cure but much can be done to improve the quality of life.
